Can we change the world by focusing on ourselves?

Yes! Lasting change doesn’t start with new strategies – it starts with people. Research and leading change theories point to the same fundamental truth: real, sustainable change starts from within.

The Inner Development Goals toolkit turns this insight into action. Inspired by the Inner Development Goals (IDG) guide and leading thinkers like Amy Edmondson, Otto Scharmer, and Peter Senge, this research-backed toolkit provides practical facilitation tools to help leaders, HR professionals, consultants, teachers and coaches create meaningful development processes.

With the Inner Development Kit, you can:

  • Connect inner and outer goals to drive meaningful transformation
  • Strengthen team dynamics, trust and stronger collaboration
  • Guide meaningful one-on-one sessions that inspire personal growth
  • Facilitate self-and team reflection to unlock potential and deepen awareness
  • Design processes that produce measurable results

Why work with your inner development?

Everything we do matters. The way we feel, think, relate, collaborate and act shapes the world we create. That’s why developing our inner strengths is essential – it helps us create meaningful change from an authentic place that is more motivating and engaging – and therefore value creating – for both humans and business.

Take leadership, for example. Picture this: a leader is facing a resistance from the team towards a new strategy. A leader who is self-aware, open to feedback, and able to navigate uncertainty with clarity and trust will create a completely different outcome than one who reacts defensively or avoids difficult conversations. Inner development is the key to unlocking our full potential as leaders, employess, and agents of change!

Take a team, for example. Picture this: a workplace where there’s a spirit of collaboration, where everyone feels psychologically safe, and where the ideas flow freely! People are eager to move forward, and the energy is contagious. But when a team works on self-awareness, active listening, and shared reflection, it’s amazing what happens. Conversations become open, diverse perspectives are welcomed, and real engagement leads to stronger outcomes.

By working with inner development, you will:

  • Develop a stronger connection to your self and awareness of your strengths
  • Challenge your own mindsets and assumptions and become more bold and creative
  • Build strong, trust-based teams of strong and self-aware emplyoees
  • Act with courage, clarity, and purpose
  • Create sustainable, messurable, long-lasting, and impactful change

What’s inside the Inner Development Kit?

The Inner Development Kit includes three facilitation tools: Dialogue Cards, Strength Cards, and an Assessment Tool. The tools are designed to be easy to use, engaging, and adaptable for both teams and individuals. They help spark deeper conversations, build self-awareness, and drive meaningful change through structured reflection and dialogue processes. The Inner Development Kit is inspired by Inner Development Goals.

Why work with dialogue cards

The Dialogue Cards encourage deeper conversations and new insights that might not emerge in everyday discussions. They create space for self-reflection about how we are, think and act, and they create curiosity, and meaningful dialogues that build trustfull relations and inspire action

 The Dialogue cards
The Strength cards

Why work with strength cards

The strength cards can be used for various exercises, eg. to:

Recognizing your own strengths to give you a deeper understanding of yourself and helps you focus on what to develop further.

Acknowledge others for their strengths to foster motivation, strengthens relationships, and build self-confidence.

Sharing your own strengths with our team it allows them to understand your motivation and behavior, leading to stronger connections, and a better understanding of your teams collective potential.

Why work with Assessments?

The Tool gives a clear visual overview that helps individuals and teams reflect on their current situation and what is needed to succeed with a specific outer challenge. By bringing awareness to strengths and growth areas, this tool is a great starting point to support structured and action-oriented discussions.

NEW: The tool is now available in an online version. See below.

The Assessments IDG-Score card
The How-to guide

How-to guide

The kit includes a How-To Guide with inspiration on facilitation techniques in both team and individual settings. The Guide provides coaching questions, reflection prompts, and exercises to deepen insights and foster meaningful conversations. This means that the tools can be facilitated without further instructions. If you want further inspiration, see the online courses.

Online assessment tool for individuals, teams and 360

The online Assessment tool helps individuals and teams identify their strengths and reflect on the skills they need to create the outer change they’re after.

Unlike most assessments, this one has few rating questions. The focus is on open-ended reflection tied to your real challenge – because reflection is what turns insight into action.

You get a printable report with your (or your team’s) spiderweb and answers, ready to use as a dialogue starter in any development process (teams, one-on-one settings, or as part of talent programmes and recruitment).

The extended AI-version adds tailored recommendations on how to work with the skills you’ve chosen, based on your answers.

See more in the Q&A below.

In this short video, Sara Øllgaard guides you through the three tools in the toolkit: the Assessment Tool to map strengths, the Dialogue Cards to spark deeper conversations, and the Skill Cards to explore what it takes to master each skill.

The Inner Development Kit – FAQ

The Inner Development Kit is a practical, research-backed facilitation toolkit designed to help leaders, teams, and organizations to discuss, prioritize, engage with and set goals for which inner capacities they need to develop in order to succeed with their outer change plans.

The Inner Development Kit is inspired by the Inner Development Goal-guide (IDG’s). The aim has been to make the 25 human skills easy to work with and create value from by tuning them into concrete dialogue tools.

There are “unlimited” ways to facilitate the tool. They are applicable in settings where you want to get new perspectives by applying your inner capabilities to your challenges.

The Inner Development Kit can be used in all settings where you want to solve outer challenges by applying your inner capabilities. And where it is required that you reflect deeper and have more honest dialogues.

The Kit is being used with leadership teams, in higher education, in coaching sessions, in networks. The Kit is being purchased and the assessment tool downloaded from all branches across the world.

Some also use it in private settings where you want to start deeper dialogue with your partner or friends.

The toolkit is available in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Dutch, German and Danish. Need other languages, please reach out.

Yes! The tools are designed to be intuitive and adaptable for both experienced facilitators and beginners. In the toolkit there is a how-to-guide to inspire and guide you in your facilitation.

However, if you want to deepen your skills, the monthly 2,5 hours online training course provides insights on best practices, facilitation techniques, and ways to maximize the value and impact of the toolkit.

The online assessment tool is an upgraded version of the Assessment Tool in the kit. It allows individuals and teams to identify strengths, receive personalized recommendations, and engage interactively with reflection prompts and strength cards. It can be used for self-assessment, team assessments, and 360° feedback.

The kit includes:

Dialogue Cards – Bold, direct and thought-provoking questions (24 questions for each of the 5 IDG dimension) that encourage deep conversations and self-reflection.
Skill Cards – Translates each of the 25 skills into small sentences that are easy to understand and inspires how to develop the specific skill
Assessment Tool – A structured way to get familiar with the 25 skills, and serves as a brilliant dialogue and reflection starter in both one-on-one settings and with the team.

How-to-guide – a guide with various exercises on how to apply each of the 3 tools. Including follow-up coaching questions for each exercise.

All tools are printed on high quality paper to be used again and again in all kind of settings.

Most assessments ask many questions, give you a score, and stop there. They are extractive: they take input from you and return a number. The work of reflection – the part where insight actually happens – is left to you, often without structure or support.

This tool is built around the opposite principle.

  • Fewer rating questions. Many reflection questions.
  • Reflection and dialogue as the engine of value – not the score.
  • A clear path from insight to action, supported by AI-generated exercise recommendations.
  • A printable report designed to be brought into conversation – with a peer, a coach, a team – not to be filed away.

No matter how many questions an assessment asks, it creates zero value – unless you follow up with strong, thought-provoking questions, prioritise what matters, and commit to a plan. That follow-up is built into this tool from the start.
